From Dahlonega City Sguare travel east on East Main Street. Turn left at 1st stop-light (Grove Street) Turn left on Camp Wahsega Road. Go to end of Camp Wahsega Road, cemetery is located to left just before entrance to Ranger Camp. Cemetery #2 is located within Camp Merrill, inguire at camp gate for location.

Brief History of Cemetery

Mount Zion Baptist Church No. 1 was established in the early 1800's, the exact date is unknown. The original burned and with it all church records, a new church was built on the same location. The church supported two cemeteries at seperate locations, during different time periods...Cemetery #1 is locatated next to the church itself, it contains 12 to 14 gravesites both marked and unmarked. Cemetery #2 is within Camp Merrill, this is a much larger cemetery with many marked and unmarked gravesites, this is within a goverment installation, proper identification must be shown to enter.
